Alabama took a major blow on A-Day this spring, watching wide receiver Noah Rogers go down with an injury. He was eventually carted off the field after not being able to put any weight on his left leg. Rogers was somebody head coach Kalen DeBoer planned to count on in 2026. Instead, Alabama is still dealing with the long-term effects.
There might be some positive news regarding Rogers, though. On Wednesday, DeBoer provided an update on the wide receiver. He said Rogers is “coming along very nicely,” thanks to the work being put in by him and the Alabama training staff.
“He’s doing a great job,” DeBoer said via Ryan Fowler. “Early on, when he was first injured, probably a timeline that he’s surpassed. I would still expect him to miss some games early in the season. I’m not going to set limits on what he can do, as far as how quickly he can come back. We want to be smart but he has done a phenomenal job, along with our elite training staff and medical staff, to execute the plan that was put in place. He’s coming along very nicely. I guess I’ll just put it that way.”

Eight consecutive games are on the schedule for Alabama before its bye week. East Carolina is the opener, followed by a quick SEC matchup vs. Kentucky. Oct. 10 against Georgia is one everyone in Tuscaloosa has circled. However, you might still consider that an early-season game.
If nothing else, Rogers is making positive strides in his recovery. He should be able to get on the field at some point.
More on Noah Rogers, college football career
Rogers came to Tuscaloosa this offseason after previously being at NC State. Thought to be a big snag out of the NCAA transfer portal, Rogers was set to be a key part of the wide receiver rotation. Two guys, Ryan Coleman-Williams and Lotzier Brooks, seemingly already had starting spots. An opportunity for Rogers was there, only to suffer the injury.
The 2025 season saw Rogers play in 13 games for NC State, making 33 receptions. His 441 yards were good enough for third on the team, while also adding two touchdowns.
Alabama is actually the third school of Rogers’ career. Ohio State won his initial high school recruitment, only spending one year in Columbus.
