A 20-year-old Passaic man has been charged in connection with a Fourth of July shooting that left three people injured, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Orlando Bravo is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree weapons offenses and fourth-degree aggravated assault.
Authorities responded around 8:30 p.m. on July 4 to the area of Essex Street and Third Street in Passaic after receiving a report of a shooting involving multiple victims, the prosecutor’s office said.
A 22-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, all of Passaic, suffered injuries and were transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson.
Authorities identified Bravo as the individual responsible for the shooting.
On Tuesday morning, Bravo turned himself in to Passaic police and was arrested without incident, the prosecutor’s office said.
The Passaic Police Department was assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service and the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task Force in Bravo’s surrender, authorities said.
If Bravo is convicted of attempted murder, he faces 10 to 20 years in prison and must serve 85% of the term before becoming eligible for parole.
He also faces 5 to 10 years for the second-degree aggravated assault charge, 5 to 10 years for each second-degree weapons offense and 18 months for the fourth-degree aggravated assault charge.
The state plans to file a motion for pretrial detention against Bravo, officials said.
