“[Connor McDavid] is going to be a player who will be calling teams,” Fedoruk said on 97.5 The Fanatic. “His agent is going to be looking for him to go places. There are rumors that Philadelphia is a place that Connor McDavid wants to go.”
This would only occur if the Oilers get off to a poor start or have a miserable 2026-27 NHL season. McDavid has a full no-movement clause, meaning he can control his next NHL team, if needed. However, would Philadelphia make sense as a potential landing spot?
Why the Philadelphia Flyers Trading for Connor McDavid Might be Unrealistic
The Flyers would make sense as a possible destination for McDavid; however, would it be intriguing for the superstar center? In the scenario where McDavid requests a trade, he would have to approve a trade to Philadelphia. Still, the Flyers have the cap space, draft capital, and young players to intrigue Edmonton if they were on a short list.
Philadelphia would likely have to give up several premium assets, such as Matvei Michkov, Tyson Foerster, and Jett Luchanko. The organization would also have to give up multiple first-round picks in this scenario. It would be an “all-in” move to land McDavid, forcing the Flyers to open the competitive window in exchange for long-term pieces.
McDavid recently signed a two-year extension for less money, allowing the Oilers to make the moves needed to win the Stanley Cup.
