Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) finds himself trying to negotiate with a hostile opponent in a brand-new clip from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4. The footage, which is approximately 35 seconds long, was unveiled while Mount appeared earlier today (Wednesday, July 22) for an interview on the ongoing SNW press tour.

Unfortunately, during his appearance on CBS Mornings, Mount didn’t divulge any new information about Strange New Worlds season 4, spoilers or otherwise. However, the actor did discuss the upcoming episode in which Captain Pike is transformed into a Muppets-like puppet due to a transporter malfunction.
In a more in-depth interview during the press tour, Mount did reveal that despite the Pike puppet episode, he has “learned to stop questioning” the big swings Strange New Worlds take in regard to exploring different genres. Mount also thinks “season 4 might be” the best SNW has ever offered the fans.
“We’ve announced a puppet episode,” Mount told TV Insider. “That’s as wide a swing as I could imagine us taking. At the same time, I feel like season 4 might be our best. I learned to stop questioning it."
Mount continued by saying:
"There are so many instances where I went to [showrunners] Akiva [Goldsman] and Henry [Alonso Myers] and said, ‘Are you sure this is a good idea?’ Every time, the episode I was talking about would end up popping in some way, and the network and audience would love it. I’m just going to go with whatever they decide to do, because I’m always wrong.”
