The Philadelphia Eagles are being urged to sign an elite veteran pass rusher like Von Miller. But first-year Eagles edge Jonathan Greenard thinks an incumbent has all the tools to wreck games the way Miller used to.
Greenard raved about 2025 Eagles sack leader Jalyx Hunt, referring to him as "a freak" in an interview with the Eagles website.
Hunt, who every team could have drafted before the Eagles selected him 94th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, had a breakout 2025 season. He led Philadelphia with 6.5 sacks and was tied for the team lead with Jordan Davis with nine tackles for loss.
Still, Hunt is only about to enter his third NFL season, which means the 6-foot-3, 252-pound edge rusher could be poised for an even bigger year, especially with Greenard supporting him on the other side.

The Eagles, of course, acquired Greenard from the Minnesota Vikings for two third-round picks in April, and he has played alongside elite edge rushers over his six NFL seasons.
He was a teammate of Will Anderson Jr.'s when the 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year broke in with the Houston Texans. He finished a half-sack better than Andrew Van Ginkel on the 2024 Minnesota Vikings, who went 14-3 and finished tied for fourth in the league in sacks.
Yet, Greenard feels Hunt could emerge into elite pass-rusher territory this year.
"Jalyx is a freak. He's an athlete," Greenard told the Eagles website of his new teammate. "How young he is and where his game could really go is crazy.
"He's got this athletic bend that you can't really teach. It's just natural for him. He has a natural feel for the game."
Throughout his injury-plagued 2025 season, Greenard kept tabs on Hunt. It helped that Hunt returned an interception for a 42-yard touchdown against the Vikings in Philadelphia's 28-22 win in Week 7.
"He's doing these things, it doesn't surprise me because I've always watched him when I was in Minnesota," Greenard said about Hunt. "But he's been as advertised. So, I'm excited to see what he can do this year."
Jonathan Greenard Keeps An Eye on Everyone
Greenard is on his third team already. So he feels capable of evaluating talent.
"I feel like I got a good grasp on how to eye talent and understand ball to where I can kind of put guys in the right position," Greenard said. "I always watch everybody."
So Greenard is a good man to trust when he makes an assessment about an Eagles player. Look for Hunt to have a huge year, playing opposite Greenard.
