Nebraska football may have an early edge for one of Texas’ best 2028 receivers.

The Nebraska football team is almost set to lock in its 2027 recruiting class. Because of that, Matt Rhule and the rest of the Husker staff have the flexibility to look ahead to the next class for several of their top recruits. That hunt for players includes Carter St. Junious, one of the best receivers in the 2028 class. It appears that the Huskers have made some serious progress in his recruitment and have won his eye.

The player has listed Nebraska as a top group that includes the likes of Arizona State, LSU, and Texas. The staff made a strong impression on the wide receiver. He enjoyed seeing the facilities, calling them ‘crazy,’ and indicated that it made him more excited about what the program is building when he reportedly spoke to Sam Spiegelman.

Currently, Nebraska has zero commitments in the 2028 class. They are laying the groundwork for what should be another stellar class in the future after the 2027 class is inside the Top 20 and could eventually get inside the Top 15 if they have just a little more success, such as an Ahmad Hudson. Junious would be another step in the right direction for the 2028 class as they look to get a good start on the next class.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound 4-star wide receiver from Manvel High School (Manvel, TX) is ranked as the No. 135 player in the 2028 class, the No. 20 player at his wide receiver position, and the No. 14 player in the state of Texas according to Rivals Industry Rankings.

Carter St. Junious puts Nebraska football in top group with LSU and Texas

The wideout is still young and growing into his talent, but he’s already put up some very impressive numbers. St. Junious caught 40 passes for 585 yards and five touchdowns during his 2025 sophomore season at Manvel. That’s one of the reasons why Nebraska has to fight off a ton of different schools in order to have any real chance at eventually securing his commitment.

In addition to the Huskers, the 4-star prospect from the Lone Star State has offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Florida State, Kansas State, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulane, and Washington, among many others.

Interestingly enough, the recruitment of St. Junious has put Nebraska at odds with LSU in a tough recruiting battle yet again. The long and athletic wideout who led his team in every receiving category grew up a fan of LSU (his father is an assistant basketball coach with the Tigers).

That being said, the talented wideout is wide open at this point in the process, and it's a perfect time for any interested schools to get in the mix and see whether they can get him on campus to give themselves a fighting chance. Nebraska looks like they’ve taken several steps in the right direction and might even have an edge on Lane Kiffin and Co.
