MS NOW’s Chis Hayes on Tuesday gave viewers a front-row seat to the “panic” of Fox News stars imploring President Donald Trump to end his war against Iran ― or face Republican setbacks in the midterms. (Watch the video below.)
“With just over a hundred days until the midterms, Donald Trump has restarted the war with Iran,” the “All In” host said. “At least three American service members are dead, dozens injured. Of course, oil prices are now shooting up once again. And you could literally hear the panic among anyone who is invested in a Republican majority. And they’re not being subtle about it.”
Politics: Chris Hayes Nails How Trump's 'Mad King Behavior' Is A Distraction From 1 'Enormous' Thing
He cued up the Fox responses, headlined by Laura Ingraham’s stern entreaty that the “clock is ticking” for Trump because “Republicans cannot let this become an endless distraction, especially if they want to win in November.”
Brit Hume, the channel’s chief political analyst, declared, “In political terms, he does need to get this over with.”
Hayes teed up MS NOW’s Alex Wagner and Claire McCaskill by noting the desperation.
“The Laura Ingraham ‘let’s wrap it up, boys’ monologue ... really sort of exploded through the screen,” he said. “She’s obviously not wrong, and I think there was a general sense when the [memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran] got signed, you could sort of feel the kind of palpable relief among a lot of Republicans … and if you’re them, this is about the worst turn of events, politically, they could imagine.”
