A 27-year-old Mississippi man and his mother face multiple felony charges following an investigation into allegations involving a pregnant 14-year-old girl who was residing in their home.
The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of Dawson James Brown and his mother, 54-year-old Sabrina Brown. Dawson Brown is charged with statutory rape, human trafficking, and two counts of sexual battery. Sabrina Brown was arrested on felony charges of conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence, attempted tampering with physical evidence, and child neglect.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, the investigation began on or about June 30 following a referral from the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services. The referral was initiated after an anonymous complaint reported that the 14-year-old was pregnant.
Court records indicate investigators believe the victim became pregnant in October or November 2025, when she was 13 years old.
A search of Dawson Brown’s iPhone yielded images and videos depicting him and the victim engaged in sexual acts, as well as electronic communications discussing the pregnancy and identifying him as the father. The victim’s mother also told investigators that Dawson Brown admitted to being the father of the child, and stated that she received money and favors from him.
Investigators allege that after learning of the law enforcement probe, Sabrina Brown attempted to interfere by instructing the victim to fabricate and submit a false DNA-related document to authorities. Detectives cited text messages indicating she attempted to coerce and direct the juvenile regarding the information provided to officers.
Sabrina Brown is the wife of a pastor at New Heights, College Heights Baptist Church in Poplarville, and Dawson Brown is the pastor’s son.
Sabrina Brown was released from custody after posting a $10,000 bond. Dawson Brown is being held without bond after a judge deemed him a flight risk.
Authorities have not publicly identified the victim, citing her age, and requested that the public avoid sharing information that could reveal her identity. The sheriff’s office stated that the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are possible.
