A 28-year-old Palm Coast man was arrested Sunday afternoon at a local Publix after a store employee reported seeing him block a woman from driving away.
Deputies responded shortly after 4 p.m. to the Publix on Belle Terre Parkway following a call from an employee who noticed a man standing at a woman’s driver’s side door for roughly 30 minutes, preventing her from leaving. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Andrew Briedis leaning into the open doorway while the woman repeatedly told him to stop and get away.
According to deputies, Briedis initially claimed the two were just talking before stating that he was licking her to “get a reaction” and see if she would “engage.” Briedis told officers he was “playing around” and confirmed that he and the woman had previously been in a relationship.
Deputies verified that Briedis was subject to an active injunction protecting the woman. The court order strictly prohibited him from contacting her or coming near her, her home, her job, or her vehicle.
Briedis admitted to deputies that he was aware of the injunction and knew contact was forbidden, further acknowledging that he had been in contact with her almost weekly.
Court records show Sunday’s incident was not Briedis’s first violation of the protection order. He was previously arrested for violating the same order in March 2026, and deputies determined he violated it again in June 2026, though they were unable to locate him at that time.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly addressed the repeated offenses in a statement following the arrest. “A judge ordered this man to stay away from his victim, and he has thumbed his nose at that order again and again,” Staly said. “His ‘playing around’ is criminal and it is extremely creepy. He can ‘play around’ in a cell at the Green Roof Inn.”
Briedis was taken into custody on charges of violating an injunction and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is currently being held without bond.
