Lightweight Mike Davis plans to use his fight purse from UFC Abu Dhabi to fund a permanent move to Las Vegas.
Davis faces Nurullo Aliev on July 25 at Etihad Arena and told Sherdog that a win will allow him to relocate closer to the UFC Performance Institute. The 155-pounder, who carries a 5-2 UFC record, believes the move will keep him healthier and more active on short-notice cards at the Apex and T-Mobile Arena.
UFC PI access key to Davis staying healthy
Davis regularly trains at the UFC PI when visiting Las Vegas and credits the facility's treatment options with reducing his injury struggles. "After this win, I plan to use the funds to move to Vegas," he said, per Sherdog. "I just came back from Vegas. I was at the PI every day, doing strength and conditioning. It's definitely the environment that I need, the environment that my body needs. To be treated every single day, I'm not gonna be injured anymore, which means I can fight more often."
The lightweight rebounded from a loss to Fares Ziam with a knockout of Mitch Ramirez and now meets undefeated Tajik prospect Aliev, who owns three UFC wins since earning his contract on Dana White's Contender Series.
