It was back in May that MJF welcomed Mick Foley to AEW by kicking him in the nuts. He’s only done one other appearance since then, at Beach Break Dynamite, but Tony Khan outright said he would love to see Foley wrestle again now that he’s got him signed to a deal. The man himself has said he thinks he has one more good match left in him. Reports quickly indicated a match could very well end up happening.
That’s the back drop for recent comments from Khan on the Battleground Podcast saying we will be seeing more of Foley going forward:
“He adds a lot of experience. He also brings a lot of positivity, and he’s having a great time. We’ve really enjoyed having Mick so far at AEW at Double or Nothing and at Beach Break. Fittingly, these are two of the best nights in the history of the company. So he picked two great nights to make his debut on pay-per-view with AEW at Double or Nothing and on TV with AEW at Beach Break. So when Mick is in the house, you know good things are going to happen. And Mick’s going to be a more regular presence in the show, I think. Not necessarily every single week, but I’m excited to have Mick come in more and more.”
Part of the problem is that Foley had a busy schedule booked before he signed on to AEW. Once that clears up, he’ll be free to do whatever it is they plan for him to do, be it special guest correspondent, interviewer, commentary, or even part time wrestler. Again, it seems the goal, eventually, is one final match in an AEW ring.
They’ll have more time to build to it soon enough, it seems.
