The football world regained one of it’s finest characters as Jürgen Klopp has come out of the shadows from his role at Red Bull, to join the DFB as the senior national team coach. While Germany has struggled over recent years, here are three reasons Klopp can turn the national team around and develop towards becoming the world’s best once again.
Jürgen Klopp is one of the world’s best
In case anyone forgot, Klopp is one of the best coaches in the world. With Borussia Dortmund and most recently, Liverpool, he brought his clubs to the top during his time. Liverpool when he joined on and Liverpool during his time coaching were completely different states. He brought Liverpool from mediocracy to their best run of performances in recent history. At Borussia Dortmund, he took them to the top with a budget way smaller than Europe’s biggest clubs.
Klopp has a track record at developing young talent
At both Dortmund and Liverpool, Klopp was extremely successful at developing young talent into full-blown superstars. With the change of the guard to come at the national team, Klopp is the perfect man to get the most out of Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, Said El Mala, Kennet Eichhorn, and many more talents that Germany have at their disposal.
Klopp’s connections in German football
Jürgen Klopp has managed Eintracht Frankfurt’s youth team, Mainz 05, and most notably, Borussia Dortmund. Klopp was highly successful in both Mainz and Dortmund, and both teams have players that represent Germany at the senior level. Klopp is highly respected in Germany and his connections will be crucial in ensuring he has a long enough leash to make a major impact.
While Nagelsmann managed multiple German clubs as well, he didn’t have the strength of earned reputation that Klopp maintains. That will massively help relations with clubs and players as well. It was evident that Nagelsmann did not know how to handle the press without saying bad things about his players or at best, providing mixed messaging. Klopp on the other hand, is a master of player management.
