In 2025, the Trumps threatened Wolff with a $1 billion lawsuit, demanding that he stop making allegations about the presidential couple. However, it didn’t stop him.
Recently, the best-selling author even wrote an op-ed for his Substack, HOWL, where he yet again took a dig at the Trumps’ marriage, claiming the pair “barely speak.”
Following Wolff’s remarks, relationship expert Gemma Logan reflected on the first lady and her marriage with the president, and discussed one challenge they face.
Expert Says Presidential Couples ‘Don’t Have’ One Luxury
Following Michael Wolff’s claims that Melania Trump and Donald Trump sleep in separate rooms and barely speak to each other, relationship expert Gemma Logan shared her opinion.
Speaking with the Irish Star, Logan began by saying that “public image makes everything more complicated.” She explained that while it’s normal for couples to have a bad week, the Trumps don’t have that privilege.
“Most couples can have a bad week, argue over breakfast and then get on with their day. A presidential couple doesn’t have that luxury,” she shared during her interview.
Logan explained, “Their relationship is constantly being observed, interpreted and turned into a story. That can create a strange dynamic. Sometimes a couple may appear distant because they are intensely private.”
She added, “Other times, public appearances can become a kind of performance, where the couple presents unity even when the private relationship is far more complicated.”
She added that people have “long been fascinated by the contrast between their highly visible marriage and the apparent emotional distance”, Logan noted, “that makes it particularly difficult.”
Given how Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s marriage is always under scrutiny, Logan explained how it eventually makes things difficult to “know what is genuinely happening behind closed doors.”
She argued, “The danger is that a marriage can gradually become more about managing the public image of being a couple than actually functioning as one.”
Further addressing rumors about the former model reportedly “choosing independence,” Logan noted, “Some people are perfectly comfortable with a marriage that allows considerable personal space.”
In the end, the expert assured that the Trumps’ marriage “may not resemble the traditional idea of a couple living together every day, but that doesn’t automatically mean it is doomed.”
Michael Wolff Says the Trumps’ Marriage Has Hit the ‘Lowest Point’
Meanwhile, contrary to Gemma Logan’s remarks about Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s marriage, Michael Wolff noted that the couple has hit the “lowest point” in their marriage.
Reflecting on all the ups and downs surrounding the Trumps’ relationship over the years, Wolff said in his Substack article, “The relationship between the president and his wife is probably at its lowest point since the Stormy Daniels trial — and that was very low.”
He further alleged the president and his wife “barely speak,” and also mentioned that “there is hardly even the pretense that she lives in the White House.” Wolff further added, “Everybody in the White House is afraid of Melania Trump and her power.”
He added, “In the first Trump White House there were at least a few close Trump advisors, most notably Kellyanne Conway, who maintained good relations with the first lady. Now there are none.”
