Brad Pitt’s personal life is back in the spotlight days after his romance with Ines de Ramon was made Instagram official after they attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding together. His daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie has now filed to legally drop his last name.
According to a news report in Page Six, Vivienne has submitted her paperwork in the Los Angeles Superior Court, where she requested that her legal name be changed from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.
Marcheline Bertrand was the 18-year-old’s grandmother and Jolie’s mother, who had passed away from breast and ovarian cancer at the age of 56 in 2007.
Vivienne Files Paperwork to Drop Brad Pitt’s Name
According to the court documents that have been obtained by the publication, Vivienne listed her reason to drop “Pitt” from her name as personal.
An insider bashed the Maleficent star while speaking to the publication over this latest development and said, “This is what complete and total parental alienation looks like. It’s awful, deliberate and unnecessary, only serving the interest of the parent feeling some perverse pleasure at excluding another caring parent from her children’s lives.”
However, another source had earlier revealed to the same publication that the F1 star’s children are making this stern decision as they are adults and have been deeply affected by the trauma that surrounded their parents’ divorce.
The source had said, “If Brad isn’t close to the kids, it’s because of the harm that was done. The children are now adults and make their own decisions, which deserve respect. If they choose to distance themselves from him, it comes from that pain and harm.”
The source was referring to an alleged altercation that took place between Pitt and his former wife on a plane in September 2016, aboard a flight from France to Los Angeles. The Maria actress alleged that the actor was verbally and physically abusive toward her and her children, who were also present on the flight. This not only led to the children reportedly experiencing lasting trauma but also resulted in the end of the former couple’s marriage.
The legal proceedings and the conflict surrounding their bitter separation lasted for almost eight years until their divorce was finalized in December 2024.
Before Vivienne, Her Siblings Have Also Dropped Their Father’s Last Name
Vivienne has joined the bandwagon of her other siblings who have also chosen to drop their father’s name. While Shiloh also legally changed her name in 2024, Zahara, Maddox, Knox and Pax have also dropped “Pitt” from their names, both publicly and professionally.
Many social media users also reacted to this latest development. One of the X users wrote, “When even your own kids do not want your surname anymore but Hollywood apparently sees no red flags.”
A user on X chimed in, “Just a friendly reminder that Brad Pitt is a bad partner, bad father, and a bad person.” Another social media user said, “I’m sorry, but if all of your kids are dropping your last name, you must be a terrible father.” Another comment read, “All of his kids do not want anything to do with him, but some of you guys are convinced that Angelina Jolie is the villain.”
