Despite certain issues, the New York Yankees continue to look like a team that could make a deep postseason run, and the return of Max Fried will only help matters.

Injuries have remained one of the biggest concerns for the Yankees this season, with Aaron Judge also currently out. Fried suffered an elbow injury and has not pitched since May 13.

Across his ten outings for the season before the injury, Fried was on a roll with a 3.21 ERA. The three-time All-Star finished fourth in American League Cy Young voting just last year.

However, Fried is now expected to skip his final rehab and start the second contest of the Yankees’ doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, the team announced, per MLB.

While it may take a while for Fried to get back to business like usual, he could propel New York to win the American League East Division once he finds his groove.

The Yankees are currently 56-44 overall. The ball club trails the Tampa Bay Rays by 1.5 games in the AL East, and the goal is to win the division as opposed to settling for an AL Wild Card spot.

Fried will take part in the second game of the doubleheader between the Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates, as announced by the team.

Meanwhile, Yankees manager Aaron Boone had more encouraging news for the fans regarding injured star designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton.

Giancarlo Stanton Expected to Return Sooner Rather Than Later

Just yesterday, MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch provided a grim update regarding the return of Giancarlo Stanton, who is sidelined with a right calf strain.

“Giancarlo Stanton isn’t close to returning. Though Stanton has resumed his running progression after a recent calf strain, #Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday there is “no timeline” for Stanton to play in Minor League games. He has been out since April 24.” Via Hoch on X.

However, Yankees fans can rejoice about Stanton’s situation. While Aaron Boone has not provided a specific return date, he revealed to Talkin’ Yanks on X that Stanton is “actually doing pretty well” and should be back in a “reasonable amount of time.”

Stanton last played for the Yankees on April 25 after appearing in just 24 games. In his limited action this year, Stanton hit .256/.302/.422 with three home runs, six doubles and 14 RBI.

In a team already running on fumes due to injuries yet performing, Stanton’s talents would monumentally impact the Yankees as they look to top the American League East.

So, do you think the addition of Max Fried and Giancarlo Stanton is enough to take the New York Yankees to the top? Let us know in the comments.
