The Star Wars franchise is full of iconic characters, on both sides of the eternal conflict between good and evil in the galaxy far, far away. Of those, none are more iconic and instantly recognizable than Darth Vader, whose tragic story is really the central focus of the first six movies in the series.
As such, any time he returns in a new Star Wars release, it's bound to draw plenty of attention. If that appearance is bound to one of the better adaptations in recent years, then all the better, and happily, that's exactly what brings us here today.
As first reported by The Bespin Bulletin, the third installment in the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order manga series has suddenly appeared on retailer websites, after a lengthy period without any news. As you'd expect, this continues the story of the beloved game from where it left off in the last issue, with this latest effort scheduled for release on December 1.
Though that is a considerably longer wait than some may have expected, the publisher shared some insight into what fans can expect:
"The multi-volume manga adaptation of the best-selling Star Wars video game continues! The saga of Cal Kestis continues in volume three of the manga adaptation of the hit video game! Haunted by tragic memories, and with his lightsaber destroyed, Cal's quest is about to test him in ways he never could've imagined. As he journeys to new planets, Cal delves into his painful past and his relationship with his deceased master. With striking visuals and an action-packed story, readers will be immersed in Cal's quest like never before."
As anyone who has played Fallen Order will tell you, the story really ramps up quite quickly as it goes along. Spoiler ahead, but it also culminates with a genuinely epic moment, in which Darth Vader appears and absolutely cleans house, with Cal Kestis only just able to escape aboard The Mantis.
It's not clear how far this next issues will take us, or how many releases there will be in total, but it's likely to be one of the best adaptations of the year.
At the same time, we also have the third and final game in the Star Wars Jedi series to look forward to, with that confirmed to be under development at Respawn Entertainment. No word yet on a release date or full reveal for that one just yet, though, so you might have to sit tight for a while.
