Thanks to Marvel Studios' marketing campaign for Avengers: Doomsday, fans have a pretty good idea of who’s who among the massive cast of the film. A couple of dozen heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will fight against Doctor Doom in the film on an adventure that’s supposed to set the ground for Avengers: Secret Wars. These figures, including Yelena Belova, Reed Richards, and a returning Steve Rogers, will lead the end of the Multiverse Saga, but some fans believe they don’t deserve it.
Comic readers believe Marvel has tons of heroes who would do a better job with a position on this roster. Whether these heroes already debuted in the MCU and got forgotten by the franchise or haven’t debuted yet, characters like Hyperion, Storm, and Blue Marvel could helm the MCU from now on. These heroes have a lot to offer to the franchise, while some of the heroes that are currently leading it are becoming stale by the minute.
Iceman Has Reached Omega-Level Powers
When Marvel Studios announced some of the original Fox X-Men would return to the big screen from Avengers: Doomsday, many fans were hopeful Shawn Ashmore would return as Iceman. Sadly, it wasn’t the case. Marvel Studios wasted the chance to redeem Bobby Drake after the X-Men movies relegated him to the hinge of a random love triangle.
In the comics, Iceman has gone through an incredible transformation in recent years. He came out of the closet, embraced his true power, and became an Omega-level mutant. His presence at the end of the Multiverse Saga would have made way more sense than, for example, Gambit’s. Many fans believe Tatum’s Remy should have stayed a cameo and Iceman would have been the right option to replace the Cajun.
Hyperion Is A Powerful Eternal
Hailing from Earth-13034, Marcus Milton is an Eternal whose reality was destroyed by an incursion. When this happened, he was brought to Earth-616. Here, he joined the Avengers and became best friends with Thor. While dealing with other incursions, Odinson and Hyperion basically accepted a suicide mission to try and stop this multiversal chaos. They both perished during the quest, fighting the Beyonders.
It’s unfortunately too late for the MCU to bring Hyperion into the mix, but the Eternal would have made sense in Avengers: Doomsday when thinking of the faithfulness of the adaptation. As an Eternal, he’s close in power to Sentry, for example, and Bob wasn’t even in the comics — not the ‘80s series or the Hickman sequel in 2015.
Nova Is A Cosmic Hero Ready For The Big Screen
Born a regular human in New York, Richard Rider was chosen by Rhomann Dey, the last of the Xandarians, to succeed him as a member of the Nova Corps — an elite space military organization. This is how Richard became Nova, a superhero with superhuman strength, speed, agility, and stamina, as well as incredible reflexes, a powerful healing factor, and energy manipulation skills.
Marvel Studios has confirmed very recently that Nova will get his own film in the MCU — almost 10 years after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set things up. This has fans thinking that the superhero should have gotten to the franchise sooner. Nova could have been a key element in the fight against Doom thanks to his connection to the Nova Force. He’s a cosmic-level hero, so he would have a bigger chance against a cosmic-level threat like Doom than Bucky or Yelena would.
Elsa Bloodstone Barely Got A Chance to Shine In The MCU
Elsa Bloodstone’s debut in the Special Presentation Werewolf by Night barely dipped its toes into her rich storyline. The monster hunter has a very complicated relationship with his father, a knack for huge guns, and superpowers thanks to the Bloodstone, but Werewolf by Night barely discussed it all before benching her.
Elsa has a lot to offer to the MCU. She has fought zombies, she led a Covenant, and she breaks curses, all with a gun in her hand. If Marvel Studios wanted to bring back a highly lethal operative with great stealth skills, superhuman strength, and most importantly, a bad attitude, they could have given Elsa Bloodstone a chance instead of, let’s say, Mystique.
Moon Knight Could Have Joined The Avengers In The MCU
Moon Knight is one of those MCU characters that feel like they simply won’t return to the franchise, even though they were quite popular. This is a huge shame. The Moon Knight comics offer plenty of great storylines that the MCU could tap into if it chose to bring the character back. What’s more, the Fist of Khonshu would have made sense as a member of the Thunderbolts/New Avengers.
While the comics have Moon Knight as a prominent member of the Midnight Suns, Moon Knight fits right in with the MCU New Avengers. It’s almost an obvious connection. Ghost, Bucky, and Yelena would understand how difficult things are for Steven Grant when he isn’t in control of his own body, as well as his journey through the moral alignment spectrum. The roster should have included Moon Knight and not Red Guardian or U.S. Agent, especially since it already had three super soldiers.
Blue Marvel Is An Incredibly Powerful Character Ready For Live-Action Brawls
Born Adam Brashear, Blue Marvel was a scientist turned superpowerful following an accident. He became super strong and superfast, and he gained the ability to manipulate antimatter. Unfortunately, even as one of the most powerful individuals of his time, he had to deal with racism and terrible social politics. This rich, humane storyline combined with his power set would do numbers in a movie.
Fans are far from excited to have Steve Rogers back as Captain America. First, because his return is highly disrespectful to the new Cap, Sam Wilson. Second, it undermines Steve’s journey and his decision to pursue a happy ever after at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Marvel Studios could have used any other MCU Avenger to take his role, but they could have delved into the comics too. Here, they would have discovered the incredible Blue Marvel and his leadership potential.
Storm's Story Is Far from Over
As Marvel Studios revealed the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, fans of the X-Men franchise were almost sure Halle Berry would return as Storm. Unfortunately, Berry’s name never appeared on the screen, and she has confirmed she won’t reprise the role as Ororo any time soon. The problem with this is Storm deserved to return more than pretty much any other X-Men fan got.
Not only is Storm a leadership figure in the franchise, but the comics have witnessed an incredible development of the character since Berry portrayed her in the early aughts. She was classified as an Omega-level mutant; she married T’Challa and served as Wakanda’s queen, then divorced him, and even turned into a deity. All these storylines deserve at least a shout-out in the Multiverse Saga before fans bid the character goodbye.
América Chávez Has Multiversal Abilities That Are Ignored On Screen
América Chávez’s debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness made sense. Not only is this superheroine incredibly strong, but she can create portals through the multiverse, which proved to be very helpful when working with Stephen — albeit they were the very same reason Scarlet Witch wanted to kidnap her in the first place. Even though she’s the perfect character for the Multiverse Saga, América is one of those characters the MCU simply forgot.
Fans love Thor, Captain America, and The Fantastic Four, but none of them have explicit multiversal abilities that would make things incredibly easier as América Chavez does. Even though she’s just a teenager, these adult superheroes could use her help as Stephen Strange did during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Her power set simply makes more sense than that of any current MCU lead.
Beta Ray Bill Should Wield Mjölnir
One of the many times Thor lost Mjölnir, the hammer traveled to a new wielder: Beta Ray Bill, a warrior alien from the planet Korbin. Although he and Thor fought for the hammer, Odin recognized Beta Ray Bill’s worthiness and gave him a weapon of his own: a Stormbreaker forged with Uru like Thor’s hammer. Beta Ray Bill is one of those characters comic fans are eager to see in the MCU.
The reality is that fans would love to see Beta Ray Bill in the MCU team up with his pal, Thor. However, this seems to be a more and more far-fetched possibility with every project in the franchise. Still, many would have rather seen the Korbinite take the role of Mjölnir’s bearer for the end of the Multiverse Saga instead of the clownish version of the God of Thunder that Taika Waititi and the Russo brothers crafted, completely ruining Odinson’s comics legacy.
Adam Warlock Is A True Marvel Powerhouse
Created by the Enclave as an experiment to control the “perfect human,” Adam Warlock was guided by the High Evolutionary and given a purpose: to be Counter-Earth’s Champion. It didn’t take long before he decided to take a more heroic path. From here on, he got to star in epic storylines, like the Magus Saga, in which he fought against his variant from the future, or the Infinity Gauntlet, in which he actually achieved godhood.
While he doesn’t appear in Secret Wars, Warlock is an absolute Marvel powerhouse, and it’s a shame the MCU introduced him only to bench him by the end of the film. This is one of the few cosmic-level superheroes in the MCU right now, and the Avengers are about to deal with one of the biggest threats ever. Adam Warlock could obliterate any foe with the snap of his fingers.
