Manchester United XI vs Rosenborg: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup and injury latest for friendly - Michael Carrick gets another chance to tinker as pre-season wears on

Manchester United continue their pre-season preparations this weekend, facing Rosenborg in Norway.

Results, of course, are not the most important part of pre-season, but Michael Carrick will be keen to get off the mark for the summer after falling short against Wrexham in Helsinki last time out.

The result there was unideal, but getting minutes in the legs for 22 players was the ultimate goal, and Carrick will likely look to do the same here.

He played two unique teams in the first and second halves of that tie, and can be expected to repeat the trick in Norway.

A few of his players remain unavailable, though. Benjamin Sesko is still shaking off a shin injury, while Matthijs De Ligt is in recovery after undergoing back surgery. Karl Darlow is also recovering from a minor procedure.

Carrick named a team of predominantly first-team players from the off against Wrexham. Changes can be expected against Rosenborg, but he will be keen to keep his core playing together.

As such, expect summer signing Andrey Santos to continue in midfield, though his partner Mason Mount could make way for Tyler Fletcher. Youri Tielemans is yet to join up.

Joshua Zirkzee is still linked with a move away from United this summer but got the nod up top against Wrexham and should keep his place. On the flanks, Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo will relish the chance to get more minutes in the legs.

Harry Amass impressed after replacing Luke Shaw in Finland and may have earned himself a start here.

Tom Heaton can be expected to start between the sticks. His fellow goalkeeper Radek Vitek may be left out altogether after asking to leave the club in an interview given following the Wrexham match, but conversely, United may take the opportunity to let him show his suitors what he is capable of.

Youngster Tynan Thompson could be involved after completing a transfer from Tottenham earlier this week.

Man Utd predicted XI vs Rosenborg: Heaton; Amass, Heaven, Maguire, Yoro; Santos, Mount; Dorgu, J. Fletcher, Mbeumo; Zirkzee

Injured: De Ligt, Sesko, Darlow

Time and date: 5pm BST, Friday, July 24

Venue: Lerkendal Stadion
