De Zerbi explains Tonali and Fernandes deals

10:16 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Roberto De Zerbi has revealed how he convinced Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to join Tottenham this summer.

Spurs secured the shock double signing of Fernandes and Tonali for a combined £185million earlier this month.

Tottenham broke their club transfer record to bring Fernandes to the club for £85m from relegated London rivals West Ham before quickly moving to trump that figure by splashing £100m on Tonali from Newcastle.

Spurs’ aggressive spending has taken the Premier League by storm, particularly given the club narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship on the final day of the season.

Fernandes and Tonali both had options elsewhere, so their decision to pick Spurs took many by surprise.

'Man Utd should target Van De Ven'

10:00 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Rene Meulensteen, a former Manchester United first-team coach, is keen to see Tottenham defender make the switch to Old Trafford - but only after Michael Carrick moves on an existing option.

Speaking to Andy’s Bet Club, he said: "Jan Paul van Hecke knows what the Premier League is about, he is a good footballer and professional. He was a good signing for Spurs and deserves to be recognised for his time at Brighton.

"There was a lot of talk about Micky van de Ven at Tottenham, with rumors linking him to Liverpool, but nothing has happened yet.

"Manchester United should be looking at Van de Ven.

"However, they need to move some of their own centre-backs first. Matthijs de Ligt has been injured, Harry Maguire brings experience, and they have young players like Heaven and Leny Yoro.

"Van de Ven is a caliber of defender who could slot in immediately. United would 100% be better with him as a left-sided center-back.

"He won't be cheap, and I don't know if United have the finances to do that."

'Merino could force Arsenal exit'

09:00 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Former Spain and Barcelona midfielder Gaizka Mendieta with a spicy transfer prediction.

"Mikel Merino will not enjoy being a bench player at Arsenal," Mendieta told BetVictor. "It works in the national team because of his specific role and recent goals, which makes things easier for everyone.

"However, he is an ambitious player who wants to be in the starting lineup. If he isn't, he may look elsewhere.

"The national team is different, with roles for players like Oyarzabal or Borja Iglesias. In a club setting, you don't want to be the 12th man who only comes on when goals are needed. You want to play regularly."

'Liverpool should move for Scott'

08:30 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Alex Scott has put several Premier League clubs on notice by rejecting a new Bournemouth contract and former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes Andoni Iraola should be eyeing a reunion.

During this exclusive sit down interview with 10bet, Heskey said: "Alex Scott. When you look at the young midfielders moving around the market right now, he's right up there with the best of them, and he probably wouldn't command half the inflated price tag of others despite being just as talented.

"The great thing for me is that Iraola has already proven he can get the absolute best out of him. Having a player like that make the step up with a manager who already trusts him inside out would be a massive asset."
