MALAD — A Pocatello man died after being thrown from an SUV in a crash on Interstate 15 north of Malad Wednesday afternoon.
The 31-year-old was traveling northbound around 3:50 p.m. when he drove onto the shoulder and struck a disabled Ford Mustang, according to Idaho State Police. The driver came to rest in the median and was ejected from the vehicle.
The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital, then flown to the trauma center at another hospital, where police say he died. Nobody was in the Mustang at the time of the crash.
The northbound left lane was blocked for three hours while investigators processed the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
