SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – After emergency repairs were done on the I-49 exit at Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., the Louisiana DOTD is updating the public on road repairs that are either underway or on the horizon.
Social media users in the greater Shreveport area immediately chimed in with commentary about their roadway woes.
Excessive weather conditions can cause roadways to break, buckle, or collapse, especially during Louisiana’s brutal summers. Erin Buchanan, Louisiana DOTD Public Information Officer, provided details related to trouble spots on state-managed highways.
- W. 70th near the former Wonder Oasis Water Park; Buchanan said repairs were done there on Tuesday.
- Significant concrete pavement repair on I-49 from I-20 down to Southern Loop is scheduled for bid in November, but if the issues worsen, it will be repaired accordingly.
- 3132 repairs are upcoming, and a large amount of needed concrete patching is scheduled for bid in summer 2027.
Other trouble spots mentioned by the KTAL News audience were 3132 W at the Walker Road exit and Hearne Avenue at Grimmett Drive. Buchanan said she would provide a status update with DOTD maintenance, as there were no planned repairs that she was aware of at the time of publication.s
