Jollibee will open its downtown San Francisco location at 934 Market Street near Union Square on July 31, according to SFGATE.
Since 2020, the Filipino fast-food company’s highly anticipated restaurant has been slowed by permits, historic preservation review, and, most recently, a noise compliance issue. For months, the city said that the heat pump, condenser fan for an ice maker, and condensers for a walk-in freezer and cooler in the restaurant’s room were not in compliance with San Francisco’s noise ordinance.
After failing two noise tests earlier this year, Jollibee added a thick acoustic liner inside the heat pump and vibration isolation pads underneath before another test in late June. The third time proved to be the charm, and the city agreed the equipment met appropriate noise levels. In early July, building and health departments signed off as well.
According to a company spokesperson who offered details to The San Francisco Standard, the location will open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, offering dine-in, to-go, and digital ordering.
Earlier this year, Jollibee made TIME Magazine’s TIME100 Most Influential Companies of 2026. Often called the “McDonald’s of the Philippines,” Jollibee is known for their fried chicken, sweet spaghetti, and peach mango pie. They have more than 1,700 stores worldwide, with 109 in North America. California has the most locations in the U.S. at 28, with plans already in place to expand further in the next 15 years.
The Market Street site will be Jollibee’s first in San Francisco in fifteen years. The previous location at 200 Fourth Street closed in 2011.
