Liverpool in no doubt about top transfer target as Andoni Iraola touches down in USA

The Reds are in need of attacking reinforcements and have already whittled down their shortlist. And manager Iraola has his first pick as he weighs up big money moves.

Andoni Iraola touched down in the United States for Liverpool's pre-season tour with Premier League preparations on his mind.

But the Spanish head coach has other priorities to consider alongside the assault on this coming season's campaign. The transfer window is open and business is well underway for clubs looking to strengthen.

The Reds have, thus far, only added two new faces to their roster in Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet but the club has still spent big to show support for Iraola and prove there's more to come.

Attacking reinforcements are necessary this term and Iraola has identified more than one option he feels can help his team and bring success back to Anfield after a difficult season last year.

Liverpool now wants second World Cup winner as PSG transfer battle ensues

Liverpool fans are only just discovering Lionel Scaloni's role in historic Reds moment

After watching Mohamed Salah depart the club as an icon of the Kop, the boss understood immediately that a winger has to be one of the more pressing issues in the market.

And that brought him to RB Leipzig attacker Yan Diomande who has been on the shortlist all summer. The Ivorian had previously looked to be on his way, instead, to Paris Saint-Germain before five other clubs made their interest known and threw a spanner into the works for the 19-year-old's future.

That competition saw the Reds move on towards PSG and France star Bradley Barcola who also has other suitors, but the Anfield giants are seemingly not prepared to go down without a fight as they battle it out to sign the $150million-rated attacker.

According to The Athletic, Barcola remains Liverpool's top target heading into the final few weeks of pre-season. It is stated that he is the player Liverpool would 'love to add', although other options continue to be considered.

Bradley Barcola continues to be linked with a potential transfer to Liverpool this summer

Barcola has been away with the French national team at the World Cup where he and his teammates finished fourth after a dramatic and enthralling Bronze Final defeat to England which ended 6-4. Barcola scored during the action to take his tournament tally to four strikes throughout.

It is believed that PSG want to keep hold of Barcola even despite all the speculation and interest surrounding their talent.

Arsenal has been linked with the winger but their interest could dip if they can secure an alternative in the wide areas. The Gunners have been rumored to be looking towards Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers and they could make their move soon.

That would be the ideal scenario for Liverpool where Barcola is concerned as it had been speculated that he favored a switch to North London over Merseyside.
