Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark is known for her logo 3-pointers and electrifying style of play. Clark isn't really a very good percentage shooter, but when it comes to deep 3s, she's money like Curry, but that's not the only thing she's famous for in the WNBA.
On the not-so-good side, Clark is known to be a complainer who always gets in the referees' ears whenever the calls don't go her way. Caitlin is such a noted whiner that some sports personalities have given her a nickname for always arguing with the officials.
Veteran sports analyst Jason Whitlock calls it the "Menstrual Mentality", a spoof of Kobe Bryant's "Mamba Mentality." Meanwhile, former NBA center Etan Thomas might have the best and most accurate comparison of 'Caitlin the Complainer.'
"Remember Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? That's how Caitlin Clark acts. Like a spoiled child who throws a tantrum every time she doesn't get her way," wrote Thomas on "X."
The spoiled and bratty girl who always got what she wanted
Veruca Salt is one of the four main antagonists in the 2005 movie starring Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, the eccentric owner of the Chocolate Factory. Veruca was the second child to find one of the five golden tickets.
But unlike the other four ticket-holders, she did not find the ticket herself. Her father ordered their workers to unwrap the thousands of Wonka bars he bought until they found a golden ticket for his daughter.
Born to a wealthy factory owner, Veruca is a spoiled brat who always got what she wanted because if she didn't, she would throw a temper tantrum. On the morning of the factory tour, her parents had to prevent her from scaling the fence and entering the factory before Mr. Wonka told them to come in.
During the tour, she shouts to her dad every time she sees something she likes and wants. Veruca was the third child to be eliminated from the factory after she insisted on getting a squirrel, but the squirrels ended up dumping her into the garbage chute because she is a 'bad nut."

Curiously, Caitlin had an episode during the Fever's game against the Golden Valkyries earlier this week. In the second quarter of the game, Clark was upset after a foul was not called while she went for a layup. She made the basket but hobbled back on defense, and when she got her chance, she unleashed an earful on referee Gerda Gatling, which was perfectly caught on TV.
"I got kneed right in the quad. That hurts. The ref can't miss that. Then I had to play with a contusion in my leg the rest of the game. That's ridiculous. You can't miss calls like that," Clark said during the postgame press conference.
There are times when it's legitimate that Caitlin is on the wrong end of a physical play. It's fine to call that out. However, she's become the WNBA's version of Luka Doncic, complaining on every call that doesn't get her way. You be the judge if Etan is right based on the videos.
On Saturday, she got whistled for another technical foul after arguing a no-call. She didn't go off like Veruca this time, but since this was her sixth tech of the season, she faces a possible $1,000 fine, which is peanuts for her compared to how much money she is making in the WNBA.
