Ledyard crash into pole closes Vinegar Hill Road, police say

The power company Eversource reported more than 500 outages after the wreck.

LEDYARD - Vinegar Hill Road was closed Wednesday evening after a car crashed into a utility pole, officials said. 

The road was closed in the 100 block, according to a Facebook post shared by the Ledyard Police Department. 

"Please seek alternate travel routes," police said. 

Police said a utility pole was toppled in the wreck, but did not immediately share more about the crash, including if anyone was injured. 

The power utility Eversource reported 524 outages near Vinegar Hill Road around 8:45 p.m. The company's website cited the cause as "public safety."
