"As for President [Donald] Trump's forecast that a settlement [of the war in Ukraine] is approaching — I will ask Marco Rubio about that tomorrow," Lavrov said.
The talks are scheduled for Thursday morning, Lavrov said.
"The meeting with Rubio has already been agreed upon," he said at a news conference in Manila.
Lavrov said Moscow's position is that Washington has "not yet abandoned its proposals put forward in Anchorage."

"We proceed from the understanding that, at least for now, our American colleagues have not renounced their own proposals, which were voiced and are now well known to everyone, since there have been many comments about them," the Russian foreign minister said.
Rubio and Lavrov are both in Manila for events tied to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Rubio said on June 25 that "there was no agreement in Alaska." "A proposal was made in Alaska, but it was never an agreement," Rubio said.

Lavrov responded by claiming that U.S. proposals for resolving the war in Ukraine had indeed been discussed during the Russia-U.S. summit in Alaska.
The Alaska summit
President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on Aug. 15, 2025, at a military base in Anchorage, Alaska.
The war Russia launched against Ukraine was the central topic of discussion, though neither side announced specific agreements from the meeting. Soon afterward, Russian diplomats and state media began claiming "the sides reached a certain mutual understanding on the parameters for ending the war," and began regularly invoking the phrase "spirit of Anchorage."
Reuters reported in January that Russia, during talks in Abu Dhabi, was again demanding Ukraine cede the Donbas region, characterizing this as the so-called "Anchorage formula."
The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW), analyzing a series of statements by Russian officials, said the Kremlin was manipulating the Alaska summit to pressure Trump into conceding to Russia's demands regarding Ukraine.
Also in January, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had no official information about any "agreements" reached in Anchorage but could speculate about what was discussed. According to Zelenskyy, the Alaska meeting touched on the Donbas, temporarily occupied territories, and frozen Russian assets.
