After weeks of comparisons between the Denver Broncos quarterback and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson, the NFL’s latest player rankings have added another talking point to the conversation.
The league’s annual NFL Top 100 list, voted on by players, ranked Nix at No. 59 following the 2025 season. That placed him 10 spots ahead of Jackson, giving fresh life to a debate that picked up after Colin Cowherd stated he would rather have Nix than the Ravens star.
“That gap between Nix and Jackson adds fuel to a debate that was already burning. Colin Cowherd stirred the pot last week when he said he would take Nix over Jackson. Now, the players themselves have given Cowherd some ammunition,” Rob Gregson wrote on July 20.
Nix earned the recognition after throwing for 3,931 yards, 25 touchdowns and an 87.8 passer rating during the 2025 season. He also led several fourth-quarter comeback wins, something that became one of the biggest strengths of his game.
Since he arrived in Denver in 2024, Nix has brought playoff football back to the Broncos after a whole decade. Not just that, but he’s already nearing the 8,000-yard mark with his third year just about to begin.
“While fourth-quarter Nix is a great weapon to have, Denver needs him to bring that same energy from the opening snap… If Nix can bring his comeback mentality to the first three quarters of games, the Broncos are going to be a problem for the rest of the league,” Rob Gregson wrote on July 20 on A to Z Sports.
Through the first three quarters of 2025, Nix’s Broncos averaged 14.3 points per game with the QB posting a 10-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio and an 81.7 passer rating. But once the fourth quarter arrived, the rookie flipped a switch.
Nix exploded for 10.7 points per game in the final period alone. He threw seven touchdowns against just one interception and finished with a stellar 105.3 passer rating.
With another season under Sean Payton, Nix will have the opportunity to build on that momentum and continue climbing the league’s rankings.

Bo Nix’s rise around the NFL isn’t just showing up in the rankings. It’s also earning respect from one of his biggest rivals.
“When Bo needs to make a play, he’s able to make big plays. He’s athletic. He’s got a great arm. He’s a dog. I’ll give it to him,” Maxx Crosby said, according to Sports Illustrated.
Nix’s season ended after he suffered a broken ankle against Buffalo, forcing him to miss the AFC Championship Game.
He is also one of the three Broncos to appear on this year’s NFL Top 100, joining Courtland Sutton (No. 68) and Zach Allen (No. 73).
