July 22 (UPI) -- Paramount+ announced Wednesday it has greenlit the series Laird. Kenneth Branagh will star and executive produce.
Branagh will play the Laird of Castle Drummoch, a modern landowner in the Scottish Highlands fighting off an American billionaire. The "epic family saga" promises "family feuds, buried secrets and star-crossed romances."
Jez and John-Henry Butterworth and Georgia Lee created Laird. Joe Wright will direct the pilot and all four are among executive producers.
Paramount+ also streams Taylor Sheridan's dramas Dutton Ranch, Landman and The Madison depicting similar familial dramas in American cities.
The streaming service will premiere Laird globally. No production date or premiere date was announced.
