Kelsey Mitchell and the Indiana Fever have won four of their last five games as the league approaches the All-Star break. Mitchell, who was voted an All-Star starter, is second in the league in scoring at 23.3 points per game, trailing only Las Vegas Aces superstar center A'ja Wilson, who is averaging 25.5.
The Fever are heating up as the weather warms, with teammate Caitlin Clark being named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for June on July 3. On Tuesday, Mitchell was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. The two traded tremendous performances in Indiana's last two games. Clark went off for a record-setting 45-point, 10-assist performance in a 110-107 win over the Seattle Storm on Friday.
Mitchell followed that up with her own terrific showing on Saturday in a 108-88 win over the New York Liberty. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft poured in 33 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the field, including a blistering 4-for-6 mark from 3-point range, in 30 minutes.
On Monday, The Athletic's James Boyd reported that the 5-foot-8 guard was not at the Fever's practice for unknown "personal" reasons. Mitchell is coming off a tremendous game, and if the missed practice was for maintenance or rest, the team would have announced that.
With Indiana initially not providing further explanation, fans and the media will have to wait until Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET, when the Fever host center Brittney Griner and the Connecticut Sun, to see if the four-time All-Star will return to action.

The WNBA's 30th anniversary season All-Star Game, in which Mitchell, Clark and forward Aliyah Boston will represent the Fever, will take place at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Coverage will air on ABC.
