A road project that leads to daily bottlenecks and driver frustration has largely been delayed by bad weather and one utility that didn't move lines out of the way before the project started.
Jenks Mayor Corey Box said staff blamed AT&T as the only utility that didn't meet deadlines to move lines out of the way of the project. An AT&T media contact said the company was looking into the complaint.
Votes approved $16 million to widen and rebuild Elm from 111th to 131st. The one-mile first phase, from 111th to 121st, started in January 2025, but utility issues delayed progress by five months, and combined with rainy weather, has pushed the timeline for completion to February 2027. Each phase was originally estimated to take 14 months.
