The Milwaukee Brewers could have another obstacle to overcome in their pursuit of a National League pennant if they end up facing the Los Angeles Dodgers in October. Although the Dodgers are chasing a third consecutive World Series championship, veteran broadcaster Chris Russo recently questioned whether Los Angeles has what it takes to win it all again in 2026.
The Brewers received another vote of confidence ahead of the postseason after Kirk Herbstreit picked a different club to win the World Series instead of the Dodgers. During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Herbstreit joined the growing list of analysts expressing skepticism about Los Angeles repeating as champions.
“I think the Brewers are gonna win it all this year,” commented Herbstreit.
Are the Milwaukee Brewers due for a World Series win?
Milwaukee has emerged as one of baseball’s top teams through the first 101 games of the season. Their 63-38 record trails only the Los Angeles Dodgers by the slimmest of margins, leaving Milwaukee just half a game away from owning the best record in the majors.
The Brewers have become a fixture in the postseason, qualifying for October baseball in seven of the last eight years. Despite that consistency, the franchise is still chasing its first World Series appearance in more than four decades after being eliminated by the Dodgers in the 2025 National League Championship Series.
Milwaukee’s lone Fall Classic berth remains its 1982 run, when the club, then a member of the American League, finished as runner-up after losing to the St. Louis Cardinals.
If the postseason began today, the Milwaukee Brewers would open the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the National League. That position would give them a Division Series matchup against whichever team advances from the Wild Card showdown between the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates.
