The epic unfolding at Black Mountain, New Hampshire, continues with another twist reported by resort General Manager and Indy Pass CEO, Erik Mogensen.
On July 17, 2026, Mogensen posted another lengthy update to the resort's Facebook page, announcing the addition of a pub and inn to the property.
Black Mountain has officially purchased the entire 12-acre property adjacent to the ski area, including the historic Whitney's Inn and Shovel Handle Pub. The Inn has been in operation since 1842 and, alongside the pub, has offered 184 years of hospitality in the area. It seemed only natural to Mogensen that the three businesses operate under one umbrella, so when the most recent ownership group of the Inn agreed to sell, it was a no-brainer.
"For the first time in almost 50 years, the properties will again be under common ownership and purpose. But this is not an opportunity to bulldoze the inn and its history. Never should it be replaced with tasteless condominiums in the hope of short-term real estate returns. You won’t see fancy master plans and press releases here. Instead, this is an opportunity to build an authentic home for Entabeni and the Indy Pass at the base of Black Mountain," read Mogensen's announcement.
Mogensen also hopes to invest in and innovate amongst the new properties, given the opportunity to build technology solutions for the hotel, restaurant, and ski area to operate together.
Since the Indy Pass and Entabeni's acquisition of Black Mountain in 2024, Mogensen has been vocal about the company's intentions with the resort and commitment to keeping skiing there independent and accessible.
