The 165-room Fairmont Niseko is expected to open in early 2028.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has entered a partnership with J-Will Partners to develop a new hotel property in Niseko, Japan.

To be known as Fairmont Niseko, the planned property is expected to open in early 2028 and will feature 165 rooms.

The hotel will have two restaurants, a spa and wellness facility, a children's club, and Onsen bathing options.

A part of the Accor hospitality group, Fairmont stated that the resort will be situated on approximately nine acres of forested land between Mount Yotei and Mount Annupuri.

It added that the location is intended to give guests access to a range of outdoor pursuits such as skiing and golf, along with various dining venues in nearby Niseko Village and Hirafu.

The company also noted that transport links to Niseko are expected to improve with the planned Hokkaido Shinkansen high-speed rail extension, currently scheduled for completion in 2038.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts CEO Omer Acar said: “We are honored to play a pivotal role in bringing this incredible new resort to life while remaining committed to preserving Niseko's natural environment.

“Niseko's international renown for its exceptional powder snow makes it one of the world's premier luxury ski destinations, attracting enthusiasts from across the globe. Fairmont Niseko will be an exciting new landmark, marking our second property in Japan following the opening of Fairmont Tokyo last year.

“This is a testament to our growing presence in this dynamic and alluring country and further reinforces Fairmont Hotels & Resorts' leadership position in Asia, complemented by our deep experience operating premium ski and golf resorts in some of North America's most compelling natural settings.”

In February, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts opened Fairmont Hanoi, its maiden property in Vietnam.
