A key piece of farming sims is having farm animals, which is why you need to get the Barn inMoonlight Peaks. While this game has heaps of supernatural twists (and romance options shown below), taking care of farm animals is still a vital mechanic that you can start once you get a Barn. This can be made easier when you visit Ridge at the Howling Hammer, but there are a few things to go over first. We'll simplify the step-by-step process for you below!
How to Unlock the Barn in Moonlight Peaks
The Barn can be purchased from Ridge, who is located at the Howling Hammer. However, there are a few things you need to do in order to unlock the Barn as a purchasable item.
On Day 2 of Spring Year 1, Ridge can be found standing outside your door and observing your airy and busted roof. He will offer to fix it for free, so long as you provide 50 Wood. You can easily get 50 Wood by using your Axe from the Tool Wheel to cut down trees around the farm.
You will also get a note from Luna in your mailbox on Day 2. You can check the note and read it to start the "Farm Animals for Sale" Quest. To proceed, speak with Luna at Luna's Farm, where she will show you the Cheekens. This is when you can begin the process of obtaining a Barn so that these Cheekens have a place to sleep.
On Day 4, your roof will be fixed, and Ridge can now be found at the Howling Hammer. You can select "Shop" when you speak with him, and in the second tab, there will be an option to purchase the Barn for 4,000 Coins. Once purchased, you can place the Barn anywhere on your farm.
The Barn requires a 10x6 space and takes one night to build. It can also store four animals.
Now that the barn is built, you can go back to Luna's farm and take home that cute Cheeken that she picked out for you, and now you can start your animal farming journey.
