How to find Skull Girl in Moonlight Peaks

Skull Girl is a strange NPC you meet in Moonlight Peaks. After a couple of encounters where she hints at her tragic backstory, she seemingly disappears completely, leaving players wondering how to meet her again.

To get Skull Girl to become a regular resident in the town, there are certain prerequisites, none of which are explained by the game. Here’s how this works.

How to Find Skull Girl in Moonlight Peaks

Skull Girl can only be found by increasing your relationship with Persephone, the matriarch of the Hendersons family. In total, Skull Girl has to be encountered 4 times in Moonlight Peaks before she becomes a normal resident in the town. Here are the locations and requirements for how those encounters trigger.

Skull Girl Encounter #1

• Location: Moonlit Pines
• Requirement: Farm Animals for Sale (Complete)

A few days after you build the Barn for Luna in your base, go to Moonlit Pines, and a cutscene will trigger where you’ll meet a strange, lost girl wearing a paper bag mask on her with two holes cut out for eyes.

She’ll tell you that she doesn’t have a name and that she’s hideous, which is why she’s hiding her face. When you approach, she’ll get scared and run away.

Skull Girl Encounter #2

• Location: Moonlit Pines
• Requirement: A New Beginning Quest (Complete)

The night after you meet Skull Girl for the first time, the Hendersons family will move into town, triggering the “A New Beginning Quest,” where you have to bring Fried Eggs to Ludo. After this quest is complete, wait a day and enter the Moonlit Pines area.

A new cutscene will play out where you meet the strange girl again. This time, she’ll tell you that she’s cold, hungry, and alone. She’ll also tell you that she used to have a mom who hugged her, but she doesn’t remember her anymore. You’ll hug, but she’ll run away this time as well.

Skull Girl Encounter #3

• Location: Howling Marshes
• Requirement: Persephone 1 & 2 Heart Events

To trigger this encounter, you will first have to complete Persephone’s 1 Heart and 2 Heart events.

• Persephone 1 Heart Event: Persephone confides in Jada that she's hopeful she’ll find her lost daughter in this town.
• Persephone 2 Heart Event: Persephone will enlist your help to verify the rumors about a strange girl wandering in Moonlit Pines. After a little bit of searching, you'll find Skull Girl’s Bag in a clearing.

After the prerequisites are complete, wait a day and enter the Howling Marshes area. A cutscene will trigger where you’ll encounter Skull Girl without her mask, freezing out in the cold. She’ll tell you that she’s a monster and then run away.

Skull Girl Encounter #4

• Location: Moonlit Pines
• Requirement: Persephone 3 & 4 Heart Event

To trigger this encounter, you will have to complete Persephone’s 3 Heart and 4 Heart events.

• Persephone 3 Heart Event: In the Hendersons' House, Persephone and Jada will talk about the possibility of Skull Girl being her daughter, Penelope. Jada will say she has an idea, and she’ll bring Pookie, a plushie that Penelope used to love when she was a child. She’ll give Pookie to you in hopes that the next time you meet Skull Girl, you’ll show it to her.
• Persephone 4 Heart Event: In the Moonlit Pines, you’ll meet Skull Girl again. This time, you’ll be able to show her Pookie, which she’ll recognize, and ask her to come with you to meet Persephone. She’ll agree to come with you, and the scene will shift to the Hendersons' house. Here, Skull Girl and Persephone will meet, and Persephone will confirm that Skull Girl is indeed Penelope, her daughter. The two will hug, and the scene will end.

After Persephone’s 4 Heart Event “Reunited” completes, Skull Girl will take up permanent residence inside the Hendersons' House in Moonlight Peaks, and you will be able to chat with her and gift her items just like any other local.
