Houston Texans' flagship radio station adding FM presence in August

Houston Texans radio broadcasts will have a new FM presence this fall.

Audacy on Wednesday announced the launch of "The Fan" on 95.7 FM beginning Aug. 13. Per the company's announcement, "The Fan will launch as an FM simulcast of (SportsRadio) 610 AM." 

The Fan will also serve as the Texans' FM flagship station. As for the launch date, Aug. 13 is the Texans' preseason opener, a Thursday night home game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

"Houston boasts some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, and they deserve both the content and distribution that matches their energy,"  Chris Oliviero, Audacy's chief business officer, said in a statement. "Between our incredibly entertaining and informative lineup of local hosts and our exclusive partnership with the Texans, we are the ultimate destination for Houston sports fans. Launching 95.7 The Fan as our tenth FM sports station in the top ten U.S. markets is a proud milestone and solidifies Audacy's leadership in local sports audio. We can't wait to bring this unbeatable coverage to even more fans so they can join the conversation and stay connected to the teams they love."

The current 610 programming lineup will move over to 95.7: "Payne and Pendergast" from 6-10 a.m., "In the Loop with John Lopez and Reggie Adetula" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., "The Drive with Stoerner and Hughley" from 2-6 p.m. and the night show "Area 45 with Bijani and Creighton" following the "Texans All-Access" programming.

An Audacy spokesperson said the all-sports format would continue on 610 AM, with the feed simulcast on 95.7 FM. SportsRadio 610 has served as the Texans' flagship since the team's 2002 inception.

KKHH "The Spot," an adult hits station, has aired on 95.7 since December 2016.

Earlier this week, Audacy announced an agreement with SiriusXM that would add 23 Audacy sports stations to SiriusXM's lineup beginning Sept. 1. SportsRadio 610 was among a group of stations that will be available on the SiriusXM app and in vehicles with the latest generation SiriusXM with 360L radios.
