HFD turned the scene over to the Houston Police Department and the county's medical examiner.

A body was found in Brays Bayou near the University of Houston Wednesday morning, according to the Houston Fire Department.

An HFD unit pronounced a person dead near 4530 Martin Luther King Boulevard at 7:06 a.m., public information officer Rustin Rawlings said. A woman was found dead near the same location of the bayou more than two months ago - part of a perennial issue plaguing the city's waterways.

Wednesday's discovery marks the second body found in or near a Houston bayou in two days after a man's body was spotted along the banks of Buffalo Bayou ship channel on Monday.

HFD turned the scene over to the Houston Police Department and the county's medical examiner, Rawlings said.

Police did not immediately return a request for comment.

OUR INVESTIGATION: Why Houston keeps finding bodies in the bayous - and what we know about 201 victims

In an interview with Fox 26, HPD Det. Kris Persad said police were dispatched at about 7:11 a.m. after a walker saw the person in the bayou. No information about the victim's identity or the cause of their death was available.

Persad said many walkers pass through the area as part of their morning exercise routines. He asked anyone with information to contact HPD's homicide division at 713-308-3600.
