Not long ago, Hot Wheels announced a multi-year partnership with Formula 1 to create die-cast F1 cars, and the result was pretty amazing.
Hot Wheels unveiled die-cast versions of the 2024 cars, and then of the 2025 and 2026 cars.
The idea is to create reproductions that are closely related to the real cars as possible.
And there’s more good news.
These die-cast cars are faithful reproductions of real F1 cars
Engineered to race on the iconic Hot Wheels orange track, each 1:64 scale die-cast car is a faithful recreation of the F1 cars, including all sponsors and even the Pirelli-branded tires.
Alongside the individual cars, the lineup also features Formula 1 Grand Prix tracks.
Hot Wheels also built dedicated Fanzones in places like Melbourne in Australia Silverstone in the UK, Monza in Italy, and Mexico City, along with Fanzones in the F1 circuits in the US.
Interestingly, the collection changed again in the Fall of 2025 with the ‘As Close to the Real Thing As You Can Get’ campaign.
The irony is that, following the initial product reveal, F1 executives expressed genuine concern that marketing images looked too realistic.
So Hot Wheels reinvented the die-cast models to keep them faithful, but also to make it clear they were models and not real cars.
Fans are already raving about the models online, with one Reddit user writing: “The details on the Red Bull are shockingly sharp for a mainline casting.”
There’s more good news
The licensing agreement extends into 2027, which means two things.
First, Mattel Creations and Hot Wheels have already revealed a special collector 1:64 model designed to reflect F1’s 2026 aerodynamic regulations.
It features custom Hot Wheels Race Team livery and three sets of interchangeable Pirelli tires – softs, mediums, and hards.
This also means that we’re going to have a new line-up for 2027.
But we know how these things work: these licensing agreements often get renewed.
