Henry Winkler is sharing a special moment with his fans.
The Happy Days actor, 80, recently got the opportunity to meet Anthony Hopkins, 88. The two actors got together with their wives on a beautiful day, smiling together in a photo.
Sharing the shot of himself, his wife, Stacey, Hopkins, and his wife, Stella, on X, Winkler wrote, “Stacey and I met my idol to day !!! And his fabulous wife Stella.”
One X user commented on the painting in the photo, which Winkler confirmed was one of Hopkins’ originals. “Anthony is an artist and a composer,” he wrote.
Winkler has been open about the impact Hopkins’ work as an actor has had on his own work in the profession. In a 2023 sit-down with Entertainment Weekly, Winkler talked about his work on Barry as the series concluded and named Hopkins as an “idol” of his.
“I have become a better actor. I have. I’m getting closer to the actor I dreamt about being when I was doing the Fonz,” he said. “Some of my idols in acting are Jack Nicholson and Anthony Hopkins, where there’s no distance between their soul and their character. You can’t even put a sheet of paper between the two. There is something so magnificent about that. And I have been working to try to get there.”
He doubled down on the sentiment in a conversation with NPR that same year, sharing, “I want to be the most talented actor. I want to be Anthony Hopkins. But I could never have played Gene Cousineau without this latter part of my life journey. And that’s not even hyperbole. I want to say, definitively, that is true.”

Winkler recently looked back at the beginning of his career, reminiscing on his very first television appearance, in a spot on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
The actor reminded fans of his time on the show on X on Feb. 23, resharing a post that read, “Mary Tyler Moore paved the road for so many women. I loved this show so much. Did you?” Winkler retweeted the post, adding above it, “My first TV appearance in Hollywood.”
Winkler appeared in season four, episode 10, titled “The Dinner Party.” It aired in 1973. The episode saw Moore’s Mary Richards throw a dinner party for a congressman she had just interviewed at work, even though she throws famously wretched dinner parties. Mary’s friend Rhoda (Valerie Harper) brings an unexpected date to the dinner party: Winkler’s Steve Waldman. Steve is Rhoda’s coworker who’s been recently fired, and Rhoda brings him to cheer him up.
