Sometimes we might wonder whether or not our animals actually love us back. And then something like a major life change or incident occurs, and it's totally undeniable.
Take Kai the Great Dane, who had very, very, VERY big feelings when he got to see his mom after her surgery for the first time.

In the video, Kai's mom, who shares on TikTok on the account @ikaikaiswhoiam, shared his reaction to her coming home from an unexpected surgery. Kai's mom is on the up and up, especially because she has such a great home nurse in the form of her massive Great Dane therapy dog.

Can Dogs Really Sense When We're Not Well?
Dogs are highly intuitive animals and can absolutely sense when something is wrong with us or when we're not ourselves. Dogs are so zoned into humans and how we're doing that they can be trained to be medical alert dogs and be fantastic early detection resources for our health.
When something is amiss with us, dogs can tell in a few different ways. First and foremost, their incredible sense of smell can detect changes in breath and sweat. Their emotional itelligence shows when something is off with our mannierisms and body language.
Over the years and with training, dogs have gotten so good at detecting when things are wrong with humans they are very often medical alert animals these days. Dogs have been trained to work with people who are celiac, have diabetes, seizure disorders, and can even detect cancer. They indicate this awareness in different ways depending on their training, but even an unofficial therapy dog will show signs if they know something is wrong like being overly clingy, whiny, and affectionate.
Your dog is your best friend for a reason. The fact that you can trust them to also take care of you is something extra special.
