FromSoftware's next game is officially playable August 21

10 Hardest Action RPGs of All Time, Ranked
FromSoftware's Next Game Is Officially Playable August 21

The time has almost come for the next FromSoftware action RPG to be playable on Nintendo Switch 2, and fans can sign up for it right now.

It's almost time for FromSoftware's next action RPG to become playable, as registrations for The Duskbloods have finally opened, with people able to jump in on August 21, 2026.

FromSoftware fans are impatiently waiting for news about the company's next big single-player game. Sure, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is on the way, and there's a live-action Elden Ring movie in development, but the company's next multiplatform action RPG is still a mystery. No one is sure if it's Elden Ring 2, a new Dark Souls, or a fresh franchise that's unconnected to FromSoftware's previous work.

Registrations Have Opened For The Duskbloods Network Test

The next multiplayer game produced by FromSoftware is The Duskbloods, which still has a tentative 2026 release window, one that's looking increasingly unlikely by the day. The Duskbloods features characters called Bloodsworn, who are vampires pulled from different times in history, to battle in awesome-looking gothic maps. While the Bloodsworn are set characters, the players can tinker with their abilities ahead of each match, giving them some level of customization over the playable heroes.

Those who want to experience FromSoftware's next action RPG can now sign up for the upcoming Network Test by filling out a form on the event's official website. Players have until July 28 to register their interest, after which the application phase will end, and chosen participants will be informed on August 7.

The Duskbloods Network Test begins on August 21 and runs until August 24. Each day will have a four-hour session where The Duskbloods will be playable, with two happening on August 22. These sessions will hold up to eight players, and are intended to let FromSoftware test the servers, find any last-minute bugs, and discover any gameplay balancing issues.

A Nintendo Switch 2 Is Needed For FromSoftware's New Game

The Duskbloods is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and anyone who wants to jump into the Network Test will need a Nintendo Account, which is linked to it via the application process. Unfortunately for most FromSoftware fans, The Duskbloods appears to be a permanent Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, with Nintendo acting as the publisher, so it's unlikely to come to other platforms in the future. Those who want in should probably grab a Nintendo Switch 2 before the price goes up.

Considering the rough early state and eventual delay of the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, there are concerns that The Duskbloods will have technical issues, especially as it's aiming for a large multiplayer map with PvE elements. Hopefully, the Network Test will quell the doubts and prove that the Nintendo Switch 2 can handle modern multiplayer titles, even grand ones produced by FromSoftware.
