There's probably quite a bit of crossover in fandoms forDungeons & Dragons and The Legend Of Zelda. Whether you're a fan of both franchises or just one, there's an ideal new RPG that's perfect for anyone looking to blend D&D with Zelda.

2026 has already been a big year for both franchises. Zelda has an upcoming movie, an Ocarina of Time remake landing later this year, and just celebrated its 40th anniversary. Twilight Sword is a new tabletop RPG that's inspired by The Legend of Zelda. From the artwork inside the book, to the monsters and landscapes that make up its world, there's plenty of familiarity here. The inspirations go beyond Zelda, though, as additional inspiration for the TTRPG includes Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Studio Ghibli movies, and more. According to its listing, this is what Twilight Sword has to offer:

  • Easy-to-learn, D12-based game rules
  • 5 Kin to choose from, including cat-folk and giant penguins!
  • 6 Ways you can mix and match to create your unique Champion
  • 70 beautifully illustrated Weapons and Items
  • Engaging rules for foraging, cooking, and brewing potions
  • An introduction to the vast lands of Radia
  • 20 Monsters and Bosses each with their unique actions for exciting and always varied battles

You can buy the digital version of Twilight Sword from sites like DriveThruRPG for just $19.99. Physical copies of the Core Rulebook will run closer to $50, which is pretty standard. There's also assorted bundles, a Starter Set ($14.99 digitally), and more products to enjoy. Basically, everything you need to get started playing in the world of Twilight Sword.

Twilight Sword looks pretty incredible, and while it wears its inspirations proudly on its sleeves, this doesn't come across as a rip-off. Instead, it looks like a great way to put yourself into a JRPG world through a tabletop game. This isn't the first time we've seen a TTRPG that resembles a Zelda game, but there's something about this one that feels especially exciting.

It's also published by Free League Publishing, which is known for great RPGs like The Lord of the Rings RPG, Dragonsbane, Vaesen, and more. If you're into Dungeons & Dragons already, or a fan of The Legend of Zelda who's looking for an adventure off of screens, Twilight Sword could be the perfect RPG for you.
