In January, the Baltimore Ravens ended an 18-year era by parting ways with head coach John Harbaugh and replacing him with former Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Shortly after this decision was announced, Ravens legend Eric Weddle publicly supported the move, boldly predicting that Minter would have a transformative defensive impact in Baltimore similar to that of Mike Macdonald with the Seattle Seahawks.
While Weddle’s insights on coaching continue to capture attention across NFL circles, the spotlight has shifted to honoring his own illustrious playing career at the collegiate level. According to college football insider Brett McMurphy on X, the former standout safety from Utah will be officially inducted into the program’s Ring of Honor. The ceremony is scheduled to take place during the Utes’ high-profile home game against Arkansas on September 12.
Weddle established himself as one of the most versatile playmakers in Utah history during his time at the university from 2003 to 2006. He anchored a defense that contributed to an undefeated 2004 season and was recognized as a consensus All-American and two-time Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year. Weddle still holds the program record for forced fumbles (nine) and ranks second all-time with 18 career interceptions.

Before launching a successful 14-year career in the NFL, where he was selected to the Pro Bowl six times, he also contributed on offense and special teams for the Utes. Now, the program is preparing to permanently honor his legacy inside Rice-Eccles Stadium in front of his home fans.
