MORRISTOWN, New York (WWNY) - A 93-year-old man died Tuesday evening after the utility terrain vehicle he was operating overturned on a private driveway in the town of Morristown, according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded to Point Comfort Road at approximately 6:26 p.m. on July 21, 2026, for a reported UTV incident.
An investigation determined that Donald A. Ceresoli, 93, of Morristown, was operating a 2023 camouflage John Deere XUV when he failed to negotiate a curve on the private driveway. The UTV left the driveway, struck a large rock, overturned down an embankment, and ejected Ceresoli.
Members of local fire and rescue agencies responded to the scene and provided life-saving measures. The St. Lawrence County Coroner responded. Ceresoli was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to his obituary, Ceresoli was a former mayor of Hammond.
He bought Citizens Telephone Company in Hammond in 1968 and operated the company for nearly six decades.
He also owned the Harbor Inn in Morristown, Topsham Telephone, and Castle Cable TV in Alexandria Bay.
