Despite being courted by Marvel, Adam Driver should bypass the MCU in favor of becoming Batman after Robert Pattinson in the DC Universe.
It’s no secret that Marvel wants to cast Driver. The Academy Award-nominated actor is frequently in MCU casting rumors. Driver’s name has been previously linked to Reed Richards, Magneto, and Mister Sinister.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige even joked that it’s become “tradition” for Driver to pass on MCU roles.
"It's no secret, we would like to," Feige said about his desire to work with Driver at Marvel. "But it's a tradition to Zoom with him, and then he passes. That's a long-lived tradition.”
Even if Marvel continues to show interest in his services, Driver should keep saying no. Instead, he should eye a role in James Gunn’s DCU, specifically as the Caped Crusader.

Driver is not replacing Pattinson, who currently stars as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ Batman movies. Instead, Driver could be Gunn’s Batman in the DCU.
Gunn already announced the DCU’s Batman would appear in The Brave and the Bold. Andy Muschietti remains attached as the director, with Christina Hodson penning the screenplay. The movie is a father-son story about Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian Wayne, who becomes Robin. Gunn has not confirmed the age of his Batman, but The Brave and the Bold calls for an older Batman, or at least someone believable enough to have a teenage son.
At 42, Driver is old enough to play a father. Even if The Brave and the Bold doesn’t film for a few years, Driver’s age still works. It would be an older Batman, which could play better in the father-son dynamic.
Furthermore, Driver has experience joining a major franchise - he played Kylo Ren in three Star Wars movies. The idea that he’s above superhero movies is a false narrative. Most importantly, Driver is a fantastic actor, and his presence would help legitimize the DCU’s Batman.
Why hasn’t Driver committed to a superhero movie? I suspect that he’s waiting for the right role. So far, that hasn’t happened with Marvel. Is there a better superhero role than Batman? Hopefully Gunn makes the call to Driver about wearing the Batsuit soon.
