In perhaps the most exciting reveal, two Green Lantern heroes will be featured in the film. Per a March 2026 article by The Hollywood Reporter, John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, will be making his feature debut in Man of Tomorrow. In the latest reveal, Nathan Fillion will return for the Superman film as Guy Gardner. Gardner's return effectively confirms that the Green Lanterns are finally getting their due.

On July 13, DC Studios co-CEO and Superman director James Gunn shared a set video hinting at Guy Gardner’s triumphant return for the coming sequel. In the video, Gunn showed an unmistakable Guy-themed lighter.
This latest reveal is part of Gunn and Peter Safran's overarching new approach to the Green Lantern group. The DC Studio CEOs are affording the Green Lanterns consistent attention, building out and delving deeper into the neglected crop of intergalactic heroes.
Off the big screen, the DCU will be digging into a couple of iconic Green Lantern heroes in the new Lanterns drama series. Debuting on HBO next month, Lanterns will follow John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) as they investigate a mysterious murder set in the American heartland. Fillion will also be joining his fellow intergalactic defenders as the Emerald Knight in Lanterns.
With John Stewart and Guy Gardner confirmed to appear in both the HBO show and Man of Tomorrow, it seems that DC Studios is sticking to its guns and is committed to building out the Green Lantern universe. Why The DCU Giving The Green Lanterns So Much Spotlight Is A Huge Deal For DC
The DCU’s sudden spotlight on the Green Lanterns is long overdue and extremely exciting for long-time fans of the superheroes. While Green Lantern has been a favorite among comic book enthusiasts and early-2000s kids, none of the heroes fully or successfully broke off the page and into the mainstream.
While Batman, Superman, and Supergirl have enjoyed focused cinematic attention throughout the years, Green Lantern has been an afterthought at best. Particularly since the deafening flop of Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern movie in 2011, the intergalactic enforcers have been left in the dust— with few modern film or TV appearances.
As DC Studios continues to expand its universe and pump out new movies and shows, Green Lantern is finally receiving serious attention. This is a great sign for the heroes' futures and is one step closer to another attempt at a live-action Green Lantern movie. Guy Gardner was a favorite character in the 2025 Superman, and the upcoming Lanterns show has received positive early reviews, suggesting that Gunn and Safran know what they’re doing with these heroes.
