BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Emergency crews extinguished a small brush fire Tuesday afternoon after flames from an out-of-control burn pit spread to a truck, trailer, and surrounding grass near the intersection of Malvern Street and Hickman Avenue.
Firefighters responded to the scene around 12:45 p.m. Engine 7, Brush 7, and Battalion Chief 3 arrived to find a truck and attached trailer fully engulfed in flames, along with less than a quarter-acre of burning grass and brush.
Crews quickly put out the flames before the fire could reach nearby structures or surrounding properties. Officials reported no injuries in connection with the incident.
According to authorities, the fire was caused by an outdoor burn pit that failed to meet required setback distances, allowing the flames to escape and ignite the surrounding area and vehicle setup.
