Fans Might've Narrowed Down When Fallout 3 Remastered Will Launch

Bethesda didn’t give us any idea of when the Fallout remasters are coming, but fans have a solid theory.

Fallout fans think that a Fallout 76 expansion that acts as a prequel to Fallout 3 could give us a good idea of when to expect Fallout 3 Remastered.

For some time now, Fallout fans have been begging Bethesda to do anything with the series that isn’t tied to Fallout 76, the Amazon series, or Fallout Shelter. That wish is finally going to be granted in the near future, as Bethesda recently announced a ton of new projects that are currently in the works, from a new Obsidian game to the eventual Fallout 5.

One of the most interesting (and actually feasible) things that Bethesda announced was remasters of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, which have been rumoured to be a thing for a long time now. Sadly, we weren’t given any idea of when to expect either of the remasters, leaving fans to try their best to figure it out.

Fallout Fans Think 3 Remastered Could Launch Around A 76 Expansion

Looks Like We’ll Be Waiting Until Next Year

Considering how long we’ve been hearing about the Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters, many fans assumed that they weren’t that far off and had a decent chance of launching this year. Bethesda’s announcement softened that a bit and suggested they might be further out, leaving fans guessing when they could pop up.

Over on Twitter, Kevduit pointed out an interesting detail in Bethesda’s statement that could give us a good idea of when to expect the Fallout 3 remaster. While talking about the “Future of Fallout”, Bethesda notes that it has a new Fallout 76 expansion planned for 2027 that will act as a “prequel story” to Fallout 3.

With that prequel story confirmed for 2027, it would only make sense for Fallout 3 Remastered to be launching alongside it. This means that Fallout 3 Remastered is very likely to launch in 2027, as Bethesda will likely want some synergy between the two stories being told in the Capital Wasteland.

That just leaves the New Vegas remaster, which could be aiming to release at some point in 2028. It’s very unlikely that Bethesda is going to have both launch in the same year, and the release of a remaster of Obsidian’s beloved entry could very well be used to hype up its confirmed Fallout game, something that doesn’t make sense to do until 2028 at the earliest.
