Belfast is failing to put its best foot forward for the all-Ireland Fleadh, a city centre business owner has warned - with drugs, dereliction and rough sleepers set to greet 800,000 visitors expected next month.

Richard Evans, owner of The Pocket cafe, has accused Belfast City Council of “a total lack of planning, coordination, and action” in an open letter, warning that the state of the city centre “poses a serious risk to the reputation of Belfast and to the safety of those attending” the festival.

Jack Galway (22), of Ballymiscaw Road, Holywood, Co Down, admitted two counts of misusing a communications network by sending messages with indecent or obscene content.

Police received a report of voyeurism by a woman who believed she had been covertly recorded while engaging in an intimate act with her partner without their consent.

It transpired the video was subsequently circulated on social media platforms by Galway.

  • Man appears in court charged with the murder of Stephen Holmes in Strabane

A Strabane man appeared in court to deny murdering father-of-two Stephen Holmes.

Mr Holmes (31) died in hospital in February last year following an assault in a house in the Beechmount Village area of Strabane.

The man accused of his murder appeared in the dock of Belfast Crown Court on Wednesday.

Prime Video is to release a feature-length documentary about Lily Allen after the success of her 2025 album West End Girl.

The retrospective film will chart the singer’s journey from being the “Queen of MySpace” during her rise to fame to her life and career today.

The documentary, which will feature interviews with people close to the 41-year-old, will be directed by Mat Whitecross and launch on Prime Video in 2027.
