It was inevitable Emmanuel Acho would eventually issue some sort of response after being called out by Deebo Samuel on X following Acho’s comments towards the one-time NFL All-Pro.
During a rant on the Speakeasy talk show, Acho would unleash an array of harsh words about current NFL free agent Samuel, explaining why a reunion in the Bay Area would not benefit the 49ers.
“I’m not gonna pay a glorified mascot top-tier money…If you’re a hype man, I’m not paying you to be a hype man. I’m paying you to get 1,400 yards.” Acho told Speakeasy co-host, LeSean McCoy.

On the same day, Samuel would take to his X account, issuing a response to Acho for calling him a mascot and telling the one-time player turned podcast host, “who gave him a voice, you play 3 years gang, 3 different teams.”
A harsh, but true dig at the former NFL linebacker, as he was only in the league from 2012 to 2014 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The message seemed to get across, though, as Acho immediately took to his show the following afternoon to apologize to Deebo Samuel.
“Deebo, that’s on me. I apologize. That’s on me. Every now and then, when you give a lot of takes, you’re gonna give a take that you don’t even realize crosses the line. It was just mean. I don’t like being mean.” said the Speakeasy co-host.
Whether or not Samuel accepts the apology remains to be seen, but it was still a decent gesture from Acho, who clearly went overboard with the comments in the heat of conversation.
